Romiosyni
Dance Group (formerly known as the St.
George's Greek Orthodox Dancers) is made up of dedicated
volunteers with a love for Greek dance and culture and
is very well known for its entertaining performances
that it has given over the years. The group takes pride
as it utilizes ethnographical and choreological research
in order to show audiences authentic traditional Greek
dances from not just all over Greece, but also from
areas that were once populated by Greeks that today are
located outside of the modern borders.
The group has performed for many charities and events
over its long history. The group headlines at the annual
Greek Festival that takes place annually in Halifax
(considered as being one of the premiere festivals in
Nova Scotia). Also worth mentioning are performances at
the Multicultural Festival on the Dartmouth waterfront
and other events throughout the HRM and the Maritimes.
Also, the group has been on many television programs
such as "Breakfast Television" and "CBC Morning".
Romiosyni boasts a beautiful costume collection that
comes from the various villages and regions of Greece
and hopes to expand this collection in the future.
